Time does fly. But Mama has been a wreck this second month. I've turned into the crazy mom calling the poor nurse all the time. He had some swelling start this month and some serious eye goo, and then to end the second month some seriously inflamed ingrown big toes. However, in happier news... Boone this month has been smiling like crazy, working on his biceps with his rattle, gabbing up a storm, kicking his ocean mat, digging his swing and mobile, and luckily still sleeping like a dream. Love this little man!

What a blessing to be a part of this wedding. Besides the amazing couple, outdoor chandelier and fantastic location, it was a very intimate wedding of 16. I've never had the pleasure of photographing a wedding that size, but it was great to get to know everyone and share in their day. Felice did an amazing job thinking of every little detail and taking care of everyone. It was also my first visit to Beecher Hill and I can't wait to come back. Enjoy!

I don't even have words for how much I love this couple- the day was all about the intimate details. Felice had me the moment she walked out of the limo. They both are the most sweetest kind people you could ever meet, and Jordan only topped it by showering compliments and love on Felice during the day. These two are meant for each other in so many ways. I had to get just a few teaser images out before they left for their honeymoon. So much goodness to come!

Here is the info for all you Seniors to be who are thinking about pictures already. I'll have a busier than normal wedding season this Summer so there will be a limited number of time slots for Seniors. Book early to make sure you're not stuck getting "Glamour Shots by Deb"- although they could be pretty sweet, you know all wrapped up in foam or something billowy.

It starts again, my monthly baby portraits for Boone- it's amazing to think Boone's already been here a month. Unfortunately we also got the news today that Boone will need to go to Children's Hospital for more testing on his lil kidney due to a slight issue. Nothing too serious, more precautionary.

I took a few pictures of the little baby parts I wanted to look back and remember. I told myself that I would keep the pictures to just Boone, but Sawyer snuck in there. I wanted to remember his little ingrown toe nail, his big brother who just loves to kiss him, how small and strong his hands are grabbing mine, and that poor little face he makes when he's pushing real hard.

And then there are the development markers. Boone started rolling over at 2 weeks, started pushing up during tummy time, he loves watching and hitting his ocean mat, and just today really started enjoying sitting up with brother on the couch in his Bumbo! I can't wait to see just what he'll be doing at month 2!!!

I know- it's the middle of Winter and I haven't stepped outside to take pictures, just returning from a blogging break, and finally delivering as promised some more photos from all the great Senior sessions I had this Fall.

Boone Jennings Henderson

He's finally here... well he's been here for a few weeks now, I'm just finally pulling myself away to sit by the computer for just long enough to show a picture or two!

Boone made it just in time to come home right before Christmas Eve. And thanks to my friend Mary, he was able to get into the holiday spirit!

Since I just love to compare photos from both pregnancies, I tried to take one to match Sawyers announcement photo, but it's very apparent that these two little boys will be two very distinct individuals. And while everyone was trying to figure out who Boone looked like (and no the answer is not the UPS man), after looking back at my baby photos, Boone is a dead ringer for Mama- minus the blue eyes.

Some people thought that we had a serious addiction to those Lost boys since there was a Sawyer and a Boone...

But no- while I do love those hunky islanders... we were actually inspired by some of the great literary American adventurers. I had picked up the Tom Sawyer book at an antique store and fell in love with the way Sawyer looked spelled out on the cover. An adventure has been an under statement. Two little ones has been quite the adventure for me so far, but we were also hoping too that they would lead exciting adventurous lives of their own!

I have a few requests that I'm working on now, but that's it :) If you order prints from your gallery those can still be processed (thank goodness for auto fulfillment). New Years Resolutions! 12 in 2012

Yes it's not New Year's yet, but we've got lots on the books in the next few weeks. So I've decided that I have 12 personal and professional goals in 2012, and I'm sharing with all of you to increase my accountability! You can ask about progress at anytime ;) And I'll make sure to give status updates when I can check these off. And yes, these aren't insanely lofty goals like changing the world, but as I was talking with a colleague today, it's the little things for ourselves that we never make time for.

1. Lose my baby weight within 12 weeks (was able to do this with Sawyer- fingers crossed)
2. Do an inspiration wedding shoot
3. Attend a photography workshop/mentor session
4. Take a vacation
5. Be better about my paperwork, each month end to save me from December
6. Update my prices/handouts for clients (I bought a sweet layout last year that has yet to be touched)
7. Hike the Butte in Chelan bottom to top- gonna need Alissa on this one
8. Visit a beach with the fam
9. Throw an epic cocktail party for all the friends I've been owing a fiesta (Yeay to no more mocktails!)
10. Create a new website
11. Plan a professional family shoot for our new and complete family
12. Launch my passion projects to the world ;)

Whidbey Island Retreat

Morgan was my final Senior session of the Fall, and good thing, cause I about fell two times on the slippery dock (but don't worry I still have lots of sessions to blog). But it was all worth it for the colorful session. We had a little wind, but that always makes for some great opportunities to work that hair. I knew we were in for a unique and laid back session when I met up with her and she was in sweat pants (love those down to earth girls) and she has a love for infinity scarfs like myself. I'm always amazed at how many great locations Chelan has, Morgan came from Omak, and all these different photos came from a 2 hour session ranging from Manson to the mountains on the North shore. So to continue on the process of crush...Grapes from the vineyard come to processing. The first step: de-stemming

The grapes are separated from the stems, and the stems are kicked out

The bins are processed one by one

While Katie cleans up the machine, Milum moves on to the next step- He pumps out the juice before the grapes are crushed

Where it is then pumped into the stainless steel bins

And while you're waiting for this years harvest, there is nothing like tasting last years wine!

After taking a few more photos around Tildio, I was off to Four Lakes Winery

You can meet the winemakers and then take in an amazing view of the four lakes around the Chelan-Manson area

The view from the patio is to die for ;) And then it was off to Vin du Lac

Vin du Lac had a harvest time party in full swing!

With all sorts of events from grape stomping, pumpkin painting, apple bobbing just to name a few

They had an amazing spread of food and desert treats

And they even had wine tasting and events to keep all ages entertained!

Chelan Crush Events | Mellisoni Pinot Harvest | Lake Chelan, WA

The morning started early, very early- before the sunrise.

There were lots of grapes, Pinot to be exact, to be harvested.

The team at Mellisoni and their cheerful volunteers filled buckets and buckets full of grapes. That went down the hill, and filled the bins. Then these little grapes were off to Tildio for processing. See the next blog post for the next steps for these little grapes on their great journey thru Crush!

I had the very special treat to join Tunnel Hill Winery for one of their 2011 Crush Events. Friday they had a vineyard tour followed by an inaugural winemakers dinner in their new production facility provided by Cafe Manson. And they even christened the space with a good old fashioned wine breaking.

I learned a lot listening to Guy talk about their history in the valley, and about all the different aspects that Tunnel Hill does for farming- from flowers to animals to veggies to wine!

I've had a chance to reflect on this 2011 Wedding Season, and I have to say it just keeps getting better and better. Some people wonder why I would ever want to shoot weddings. It all goes back to my very first wedding. While trying to decide if I did move to Chelan (for my future husband) what I would actually like to do if I couldn't find a financial analyst job- in the resort town of 3,000 people. So I decided to buy my Canon 5D and try taking pictures, I had loved my high school photography class oh-so-many years prior. If I failed- at least I had a sweet camera.

My great friend Casey was getting married in Vegas and I decided I would tag along as an extra photographer. It was the moment when all of her other friends and family were seated waiting for her, that I got to witness the amazing tear-jerking private moment with just her and her dad before she walked down the aisle in the bridal chamber. That right there sealed the deal for me. Sure I had only had my camera for about 36 hours, I totally shot it all in auto mode, and my style has changed a lot in the years since. But it was that serious connection and emotion that make me so passionate about capturing those special moments in a real way. I still cry at father-daughter dances. And the cherry on top- people really liked my photos. So I made a website from my small portfolio of friends' weddings and people googled me from there. I've never advertised and am so thankful for all the kind words and referrals!

It's only since I've become more seasoned that I realized I really enjoy being an ally and asset for the bride as well. This Summer I've re-decorated cupcake tables, cleared plates, instructed on how to cut the cake, loaned the bridal party my pashmina collection, and reorganized and run the timeline- just to name a few. Because I want the brides day to be perfect and for them to really relax and enjoy the day- it goes by so fast. I guess a lot of people ask what's important in a wedding photographer. Well besides really liking their photos and shooting style... you want to mesh well with their personality. They are literally the person you will see the most on your wedding day (from dressing with your bridesmaids and mom to dancing the night away). I've walked away from my weddings feeling like a best friend or a part of the family. You get to know everyone so well. You take care of them and they take care of you.

I am so looking forward to all the great families I will get to join in 2012. Thank you to all my new friends from 2011. And for Christy and Dan's Sneak Peek... Enjoy!

I had a great adventurous shoot for Darcy's Senior Portraits. Darcy is another younger sibling shoot and we had a lot of fun trekking around the Chelan area. It's amazing how many different backgrounds we can hit within the two hour session. Just another reason why I love getting to spend time with each client. It's not a 10 minute wham bam thank you ma'am shoot. And we even got to hit the red wall that her mom has loved for a few years from a past shoot. So glad we stopped for that little extra spot. Lara and Andy had every detail planned. They really made sure that in addition to caring for each other that all of their friends and family were thought of and well taken care. This was my first visit to the Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth, and it felt like home. I knew when I saw the organic ketch-up and gluten free bread at the rehearsal that I was going to like what this whole place was about. Authentic, real, fun, and sustainability. It was a great reflection of Lara and Andy's relationship. Best wishes for all the adventures to come!

Ashley and Andrew had a great wedding up at Ohme Gardens last weekend. The skies parted and the rain stopped just in time for their wedding. I had the pleasure of working a lot with Ashley's mom beforehand, and they did an amazing job hand crafting a large portion of the wedding, and making me feel like a most welcomed friend. Really, those two did everything from the decorations, cakes, cookies, centerpieces, boutonnieres, bouquets... the list goes on. Every table had a touch of family in one way or another. There were so many lovely details to document. And I have to say, Andrew was one of the most helpful grooms, very attentive to details and to Ashley, and Ashley was a trooper getting around the gardens with all that tulle! Best wishes to Ashley and Andrew!

It only makes sense since they met at Mt.Baker skiing to have their wedding nestled in the Cascades. Kenady and Aaron are an amazing couple, fun, cool, and so in sync. I had the pleasure of spending the day with them at Mt. Springs Lodge near Lake Wenatchee. This place was like their own personal retreat.

Aaron had a great gift for his groomsmen. He designed a belt buckle himself, and- here's the even more awesome part- it has a built in bottle opener! Even the lil ring bearer has one.

Where to start... this was such a magical event. Full of emotions, tears, laughter, and some mean dance moves. I even shook a feather- thanks DJ Heidi. The Tsillan Cellars Winery was picturesque on a beautiful sunny day for the destination couple. And James was such a sweet talker he even got one the drivers in town for the classic car show to be their getaway car- in a fabulous red number. These aren't even the tip of the iceberg, there were so many great memories, and maybe some I can't ever post ;) Congratulations!

Sawyer's Big Adventure to the Zoo | Artic Club Hotel and Woodland Park, Seattle

So we took Sawyer out to the city for his first trip to the zoo and to meet up with some friends. I have to say I love hotwire- we stayed at the Arctic Club Hotel and it set the mood of adventure and early Americana. Sawyer loved the big city lights and watching the life below on the streets.

Sawyer loved all the animals, especially the ones in water- splashing around.

How do you know when you've officially made it to the top... Jones Soda decides to use your photo on their label! Ok so maybe not, but I'm not sure if even Jasmine Star can claim this one. I had the most amazing shoot last year with a family here in Chelan. They entered their photo into consideration and out of over a million photos that they receive one of mine made it! My name is even on the bottle! Their family portrait session was a lot of fun, kids swinging around, getting thrown in the air, playing peak-a-boo... that's the style of shooting I love. I'm not a big fan of everyone matching exactly and looking so stiff in set poses.

I love seeing the life my photos take after they go home with the clients, and love that they think their photos are worthy of winning contests.

Please do go out on a limb and submit your photos- just make sure you get written permission prior to submission- and good luck!

In just a few short hours Sawyer will turn 1! I remember this night well a year ago, about to tell Tyson it was time to head to the hospital. Time really does fly by way too quickly. It's been a very full year, full of fun memories. 8th Grade Graduation Portraits | Portland, OR

I just got back from the quickest trip to Portland. I got to visit my "Martha Stewart Mom" and beautiful cousins. It was only yesterday I remember playing with Elisabeth as a baby and now she's stepping into high school. She's also gotten a huge dose of adulthood. I called my Aunt one day and she said, "I have cancer." I said "What?!?!" in total disbelief. It's been really hard to be so far away and not able to just fly down for a hug. But this weekend was amazing. While I was still scared and nervous at all that she had and was about to endure- she had the most confident peace. It's the kind of peace you only have once you've completely trusted in the Lord. And it was so evident that she was ready to face all the challenges with the most amazing amount of grace. She's going in for surgery Wednesday and we would love all the prayers you want to send her way.

Now for the beautiful Elisabeth... it's funny seeing someone completely grow up in front of your eyes. The amount of kindness and compassion this girl has will make this place better for us all. Good luck at Central next year!

And because sometimes you just need to let your hair fly :)

Sawyer had a big day, and not a lot of nap time, but he partied like a superstar. We started the day with Coffee, Grammie and the Lake Chelan Top Dog Parade. It could not have been a nicer sunny day! Then Sawyer headed over to a birthday party- where we had ladybug cake and busted up a pinata! And his first big ouchie. Poor guy. Then to end a super day, we had the "Super" moon. It was a lot in a day, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

I am in love with this one of Sawyer watching the parade. We may have to be in it next year he loved it all so much.

Today was a shooting double header, and not the best time for colorful scenery in Chelan County. The weather also threatened the forecast, but turned out to be amazing beautiful soft light without snow or rain.

Stephanie and Ryan are getting married on a very popular date 9/10/11 and we didn't need color to make their engagement photos interesting- their chemistry was more than enough. I was planning on this sneak peak just being one image, but I couldn't slim it down. More goodness to come in color soon.

Let me say I've had the image on the right in my head for years now- every time I passed that spot by the old bridge I just wished I had a couple to shoot it with- thanks for making my vision happen and for being troopers in the cold and mud.

Well it was a fast year, amazing things happened at 27, and we were BLESSED with lil Sawyer. Not much can top the emotions that I've experienced this year. But I'm looking forward to 28. For my business I know that this year I will be focused on refining. I'm hoping to get a new site/blog, I got a snazzy new Kelly Moore bag for shooting, and I have some new products for branding to get this year started. These first few years I've tried a lot of products, and I'm ready to purge all the stuff I bought and never used. I'm so excited to start using my bag- that my awesome husband got me for my birfday- no more turtle backpack- and it's so easy to access, and to throw my entire second camera with 70-200 lens- it just may save my neck this Summer. And I just wanted to share- I'm in love- highly addicted to Shellac(in the photo). Try it ladies- it really doesn't chip at all- I will actually have some decent nails this Summer!

Well I don't really know where the mustache on a stick came from, but I've been waiting for a reason to try out my new backdrop and thought my lil poker soiree would be a great excuse. While the fiesta didn't go as planned and no poker was played, we still had a blast! If you are interested in having a photobooth at your wedding- give me a holler! They are way more fun than a bunch of pictures at your reception tables with food in your guests mouth ;)

10 ten things to know for planning your wedding timeline

Ok, so I'm no expert or the authority on the matter, But I thought that I might share a few points for brides going thru their wedding, as I've been thru more weddings now that I ever thought I would. I've seen the highs and the lows of a timeline working well, and places where it caused some issues. This isn't the all inclusive list, but I didn't want to bore you with all the gritty details. This is just my two cents and is not true in every case- but hope it helps

*Sorry in advance- this is probably my wordiest post- but I did include photos

10. Plan the formal family portraits (and let them know where and when). I've heard a few stories of hurt feelings because of his/her family not being included or feeling like they get equal time. Now that doesn't have to mean hundred's of photos. Generally 1 large group photo of everyone, then 1 large photo of each side of the family, then the few immediate family photos if you want to be bare bones. You can also waste a lot of time waiting for Aunt Bee to stop setting up and come join the rest of the group.

9. Don't Stress and bring backup! Timelines RARELY follow as planned. Don't threaten your future mate because they are late- and yes gentlemen- it's usually you. We can still get gorgeous portraits. The light only gets softer. And for backup-It never hurts to have a cute umbrella or two- the weather can change quickly and you may not even know the weather forecast till the last week.

8. Have the info! I can speak personally to this one, make sure someone has the numbers plugged into their phone or a list of all the vendors with their cell phones- and cell phones near. My photographer went to the reception after portraits off site, and the entire immediate family, wedding party and bride and groom waited for an hour at the ceremony site with no way to contact him- needless to say we missed out on a lot of pictures- and food!

7. Practice your dress bustle! It can take longer than you think if you have a complicated bustle. You don't want to miss out because of tying up loose strings.

6. Your First Look! It can come before the ceremony if you want to go offsite to take your portraits without missing your party- or you can wait for that moment down the aisle. We can make both work and beautiful. And trust me, the first look before can be just as special- seeing each other privately with your own time to soak it all in or the anticipation of her turning the corner on the aisle.

5. Get your dress dirty! We can photoshop any boo boo's. I've had a number of brides so afraid of getting their dress dirty even after they walk down the aisle. You only wear it once- be BOLD. Someone will probably spill some wine on the bottom anyways. And we'll get much more relaxed photos if you stop stressing. Most times the dirt is underneath and no one even notices in the worst case.

4. Have a Plan B. Yes- more than likely you will get behind schedule. If you want to truly enjoy the day let the photographer and planner know beforehand if you want to add more photography time or push some of the reception events together. That way your not having to be bothered during your party and feeling rushed.

3. Keep the reception moving! The older guests want to see you smash cake, but want to drive home before midnight. The sooner you can get the toasts, first dances, tosses, and cake eating done- the sooner you can party with your guests. It's hard when you do one thing- dance a few songs, wrangle people again, dance... You get the idea.

2. Have a wedding coordinator on the big day. If you can't afford a professional- recruit a friend or family member. It's crucial to have someone who can wrangle people, remember to light the candles, and keep the party flowing- so you can get to more important things.

1. Forget the timeline! It's your day enjoy it for what it is, and know that I will make sure we always get fabulous pictures- if they come before or after the originally scheduled mandated time.

Mellisoni Vineyards | Lake Chelan

So I had full intentions of blogging my 2010 favorites...Well I got to join my Mama this weekend for Winterfest in Chelan as they were pouring their wine- Mellisoni. So I took a few photos and wanted to share a few photos from their Fall harvest as well. If I wasn't allergic to wine with sulfites they'd be in trouble, they have some great wines- take a peak at their fab website ;) Best of 2010 to come soon.

I just love the combination of all of the little pieces that made up the two days. The friends that have been there picking rocks out of the dirt before there were vines to the tastings- it's been a journey- with a lot of blood, sweat and tears- literally, I mean look at that incline!

Now a days there are so many great creative ideas for your guest book- rather than just their names- I thought I would share a few. We have a photo mat from our wedding and it's in the hallway so I see it everyday, and I have to say it's so nice to be able to see everyone's names, and the inspiring note as a daily reminder of our friends and family.

I actually love this one so much I might have to do this for Sawyer's family tree. I wish I had this with all of our friends and family.

I used photos from an engagement session of a friend and made a calendar with their pictures, and their friends and family filled in their birthday, left notes, and then it's a fun reminder all year long.

And last but not least, if you do have an engagement session we can create great guest books for your coffee table that you'll have that is a much more stylish option than the traditional book with lines ;) Happy Friday!

Wow has everything happened so fast. This month Sawyer started finger foods, Crusin like crazy, and free standing. Sawyer is exploring the Christmas tree, it was a stroll down memory lane putting all of the ornaments on the tree, our engagement party ornaments, wedding day, childhood ornaments, and now Sawyer's first ornament. We also finally all got stockings- hung by the fireplace with care- of course :) And it's been a true Winter already with a 22 inch dump last weekend! I'm just gushing, I am a Christmas card lover, heck mine were done in October... I'm still sending some out because I always lose addresses... but I was so overwhelmed seeing all the amazing Christmas cards from my clients this year. They are all so special and have such a unique energy, all captured in their own way. And it's so great to see just how people use their images- since they get them all on CD- they are given another life of their own after they leave my hands. I love Shutterfly and TinyPrints for some amazing cards, without much work that any one can create- from your fabulous photos. 10 Days till Christmas!!! I know- I still have a lot of images to blog and my 2010 Wedding highlights. Keep an eye out, we're just relaxing and enjoying the Season here, but lots in the works :)

What a lovely, relaxed weekend with friends. I still remember the moment I found out our friends were pregnant, it was the start of a great tradition of the boys fall hunting trip and the ladies lounging time- since we couldn't go wine tasting. That was more than 17 months ago, wow has time flown. We got to see lil Carson and wow what a lil man he has turned into. Sawyer loved his first sleep over party, and we can't wait for the years ahead of family get togethers.

So I'm seeing succulents everywhere in wedding decorations, bouquets... you name it! I first saw these when Jasmine Star's sister started planning her wedding- via her fabulous blog a few months ago... and they have just exploded. They are on every blog I follow. They are lovely, I even bought a bunch myself... but I'm just wondering what will we see in 2011... more of these or what else is ahead???
